Moments before the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D., the seven Archangels remove powerful, ancient artefacts from the Jewish temple. These are given into the safekeeping of seven men. Throughout the ages, these men and their descendants become known as the Seven Sentinels. In medieval times, the Seven Sentinels formed various military Orders as a cover for their activities. Today, of the Seven Sentinels, two are dead and two have turned rogue, which means only three remain to carry out their roles. A war rages between Heaven and Earth. It is up to the newly empowered Seventh Sentinel to stop the rogues and Fallen Ones, from using these artefacts to gain control of the souls of mankind. Can the Seventh Sentinel endure? “I was highly impressed with the attention to detail and amount of research done to make this book an engaging and fast-paced read. Well done! Solid Read
By Aly
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

The beginning of this book definitely catches the readers attention. And that's a really good thing. I know that I, personally, find it hard to read a book if the first chapter or the prologue doesn't catch my attention. I can still find it interesting and fall in love but until I do it is hard to keep reading. But Yolanda Ramos didn't run into that problem. And we see this scene that we don't fully understand but quickly comes to hold a lot of meaning throughout The Seventh Sentinel.

I loved the similes that were used as well. They were unique and stood out to me. Although for the life of me there was this one that really stood out in my mind but I forgot to highlight it and now can't find it.

While the reader isn't omnipotent, we do get third person perspectives from a variety of characters. This allows us to get a glimpse into the motives of people but at the same time they still can remain a bit of a mystery. Mostly because we don't get glimpses into all of their motives and just like a human being we're not necessarily going to be able to catch on to what they're doing or why.

Not to mention that all of the historical facts that I read and recognized were correct. I'm not saying I'm perfect or an expert but there didn't seem to be any historical facts that were out of place or wrong. Which is good. It always shows that the author is willing to put in the work for their readers.

A lot of the motives behind the rogues behavior seems to be a desire for more power, and more money. It made them seem lifelike as it always seems that a lot of the criminal behavior in the real world seems to involve at least one of these motives. I just feel like it made things realistic.

It was also interesting to catch a glimpse at history that I've always just seen as an event and never really gotten to read anything more about it. So that was really, really interesting, especially because I knew of it but not more than what it was, when and why. I didn't read any first hand accounts or those of the ancient historians.

There are fun scenes, sad scenes, annoying scenes, action scenes, everything any person could possibly want. And The Seventh Sentinel seems to come full circle in a way, at least location wise.

The Seventh Sentinel is a good, solid read, and I think that if you have the slightest interest in any kind of ancient history, or the ancient church or even just angels and things like that than you should give it a read.

Well researched.
By Thomas Everson
The Seventh Sentinel follows a wide variety of characters, human and angel. The story is about a secret order of paladins and sentinels that are to be a balance to the world, charged by the Archangels of Heaven. The main character of this story, Christiano, has his life turned upside down in a very quick amount of time and he is thrust into this secret world head first.

This is a well researched book. There is a lot of back story information within and while the history is thorough, I felt like it detracted from the flow of the book pretty heavily in the way it was presented. There was also some unnatural dialogue at times and it felt like some of the conversations were out of place.

Overall I am giving The Seventh Sentinel a 3 star for "it's okay" because while the premise and plot of the story is good and has merit, it was difficult for me to get through. With a few more passes of editing, smoothing and refining this book could be a great one.

This is only my opinion. If you like a lot of information and back story, this could be the book for you.

Good Story, Too Much Detail
By Gordon A. Long
Somewhere hidden in “The Seventh Sentinel” there is a great story. A story about good and evil, about youngsters growing up to accept life, death and faith, and learning to find their place in the world. The plotline is too complicated to give here, but it involves heaven, earth, hell, humanity’s place in that mix, and those destined to protect and keep us here.
However, there is a lot of extraneous material that, descriptive and/or consequential as it may be, gets in the way of the story. This book needs a good copy edit, with perhaps even some structural advice thrown in, to get rid of the chunks of physical and metaphysical description that slow down the action.
Because there’s plenty of action. There is enough armament, both physical and spiritual, enough testosterone, enough battle, guts, and glory to satisfy the most avid action/adventure fan. There are angels, demons, and regular old human heroes and bad guys galore. Strong emotion in strong men abounds. There’s even a love story (relegated to minor characters where such trivial emotions belong).
This book should be a graphic novel. The plotline is perfect. A picture being worth a thousand words, the huge amount of ink spent on describing the clothing and weapons of the heroes could be replaced with images. And in a graphic novel, the author wouldn’t be tempted to intersperse the action with so much philosophical, religious and historical analysis.
The main problem I have with this book is my inability to recommend it to any specific readership. While the lack of sophistication in the plotline and the action are appropriate to younger teenage boys, the philosophical level of the material is far beyond their interest or appreciation. This looks like the start of a series. Perhaps now that the backstory is out of the way, new books will be cleaner. I hope so, because I enjoy this writer’s ideas.
Recommended for action/adventure novel fans who don’t mind skimming the slow spots.

BTW, there is no parking inside the walls of Le Mont St. Michel. It’s one of the most visited destinations in France, and a lot of people have been there. Details count.
