The Last Days
We are standing in the Last Days. However, when compared with ancient times, the gospel has been spreading quickly throughout the world in these days. Not only that, Satan has also been working more quickly. The cry of death is heard everywhere.
There is a proverb which says, “The god of death is riding on the buffalo.” But nowadays death has increased its speed to match that of the horse. Are you asking how can this be? We are astonished seeing this pale horse on television. But the Lord has foretold this to Saint John who was a prisoner on the Island of Patmos. The rider upon the pale horse is Death. The horse was the quickest means of transportation known to man at that time. So nowadays death is also spreading very quickly. Are you wondering how this death will come? I am not talking about death of the body. I am talking about spiritual death.
If a man was saved, received the anointing of the Holy Spirit, used to regularly attend church gatherings and lived a holy life, but then backslid by committing sin, he has fallen down in his spiritual life. This is what I mean by spiritual death. The spirit of death rides the pale horse towards us intending to inflict this death on us.
Moreover, those who die due to natural hazards such as tsunami, earthquake or riot will not go to hell. But we know that Hades follows this spirit of death because Scripture says, “Hades followed with him”. The spirit of death rides the pale horse to kill the spiritual life of believers.
When a man dies in his spiritual life, he will go to Hades.
Satan is coming inside the churches and inside the houses of believers by riding upon this pale horse. Those who give room to him will suffer Hades, experiencing spiritual death.
My dear Brethren, if you are in the clutches of sin, then for sure you will repent before finishing reading this book.
This spirit of death works in four ways. I am sharing with you what God has shown to me by revelation.

Stunning Collectors Edition

Having only an old 1994 worn paperback edition of the Lord of the Rings, I wanted to purchase a version that I could read and display for many years to come. I did a ton of research and decided upon this version (ISBN 116-1749849-2513827), illustrated by Alan Lee and published by Harper Collins in June 2014 (I am adding these details because the Amazon.com site does not make it clear what this version is). Please note that this particular printing is NOT available in the US but any Tolkien or LotR devotee should not be deterred (Frodo wouldn't have been!). I must say that this is the finest published one-volume version of the LotR that I have ever laid eyes upon, and is well worth every penny. It includes approximately 50 high-quality color illustrations by Alan Lee, which even for a 30-something like me makes the reading experience exceptional. The front and back covers are made of durable, high-quality cloth (as shown), with a strong and handsome turquoise binding. The pages -- not just the illustrations but the entire book -- are glossy and made of "whiter" paper than you generally find, the margins large, and the typeset easy on the eyes.

For those who care about such things, the printing is based on the 2004 corrected text, with even further corrections. There are updated introductions/forwards by Wayne G. Hammond & Christina Scull, authors of the authoritative "LOTR Readers Companion," as well as by Douglas A. Anderson, who provides a detailed publication history of the Lord of the Rings. The full appendices are included.

Two-page red and black maps of Middle Earth and of Gondor/Rohan/Mordor adorn the front and back covers, with a map of the Shire before the first chapter. Also present are other essentials such as the Doors of Moria and the Tomb of Balin. The only drawback is that the facsimile pages of the Book of Mazarbul was not included, which I found to be surprising and a bit disappointing Also, the ring inscription and the Gandalf "rune" are printed in black rather than silver and red. Probably the main issue is the clear plastic slipcover, which is barely bigger than the book itself, and it is difficult to slip the book back inside it after taking it out. You are more likely to scuff the corners of the book. That being said, these are far from dealbreakers, and the joy to be received from owning this edition far outweighs these issues.

Very nice books, binding seems nice. I love the covers although they are not "paperback" and are more of a fake leather material. These books are beautiful and very convenient. They are pocket-sized which is great for on the go, they aren't too small or too big (actually bigger than I anticipated which is a plus). The font size is readable, the only thing I would have to note is that the font size isn't the same throughout the different books. The font size seems to be based on the length of the books, the longer the books are, the smaller the font is (I suppose this was in order to keep them pocket-sized as well as consistent with the sizes of the other books throughout the set). If you have decent to good eyes, this set would be perfectly fine for you on the go but those people who don't have as good of eye sight, because I know some people who tend to get headaches while focusing on small font, this set may not be for you. I will upload some pics of the font comparisons, books, etc.

The books are smaller than I had anticipated, the text is small too. The thing is, it doesn't matter. It's the best four books Tolkien wrote in a small, easy to carry or conceal version. The cover material is strong and kind of rubbery, which is good cause if you are like me this will be the second or third set of the books you have bought because you were out previous editions by reading them too much, bending the binding, underlining paragraphs, and folding the corners of pages.

Given the choice, I would have ordered two sets just to give one to a friend.

which is a wonderfully informative book for navigating the lucid dream world

I've been reading many lucid dreaming books of late and realize this is something different. This is similar to the idea of sleeping qigong, which is a fast track to enlightenment because we are able to merge with the most illusive part of us that is all knowing and connected to everything, but that is cut off from our waking mind. I've not successfully stayed in a lucid dream to employ the principals, but my mind and my gut tell me they are sound and fascinating. If you just want to play around and control your dreams I'd suggest Lucid Dreaming by Robert Waggoner, which is a wonderfully informative book for navigating the lucid dream world, but if you want to evolve towards enlightenment then this is your book.

Without a doubt the best book on dream yoga or lucid dreaming I have ever encountered. Without a doubt! Andrew does an absolutely masterful job integrating the views AND practices of the East and West. This integration (and it is an actual INTEGRATION) creates a teaching truly greater than the sum of its parts. His presentation is extremely accessible to the lay and advanced practitioner alike, quite a feat when considering the complexity and scale of the corpus he is working with.

Andrew shares how he knew he had “come home” when he was first exposed to the teachings of dream yoga. I believe this explains the feeling I have had while reading this book: as though I am being warmly invited into someone’s home.

I am deeply grateful to Andrew for this work. Such a service, such a treasure, such a gift.

A thorough and accessible treatise on dreaming that feeds both head and heart

This book is so well conceived and researched that even the footnotes are informative and well worth reading. I found Mr. Holecek's audio recording of the same name just a wonderful, inspiring tome on the subject of lucid dreaming and dream yoga. In his own warm, encouraging voice he makes this rich practice accessible and clear. The book is a more detailed expansion on the material--clearly researched and thought out through a lifetime of practice.

To me, both the CD's and now this book have one overarching message--dream practice can enrich your life however you practice it, and it's do-able in some manner, shape or form, to each of us. So just get started! I owe him a great deal for both the practice details and encouragement along the path.

Best Political Science Text I've Ever Read

This review is a response to an earlier review that claimed Tinder's book was anti-American and critical of conservatives. As an American, a devout Christian, and a conservative Republican, I felt obliged to say that I found this book to be exceedingly even-handed and quite honest in its portrayals. There isn't a single perspective in the book that isn't compared and contrasted with several other opposing perspectives. He devotes space to the strengths and weaknesses of each ideology. His tone is respectful.

The only agenda in this book is to spur deeper and clearer thinking. To that end, it succeeds marvelously. And it's concise.

Essential Issues in Political Philosophy

Glenn Tinder's _Political Thinking: The Perennial Questions_ is an interesting introduction to the study of political philosophy and political theory. It was assigned for an intro to political studies class I am currently enrolled in. The book's largest strength is that it presents various viewpoints on politics and focuses on numerous profound questions: estrangement and unity, inequality and equality, who should possess, what are the limitations and what are the proper end of power, and historical change. Tinder concludes his book with a thesis of "humane uncertainty." He notes how there are no exact and definite solutions to the world's political problems and that one should be extremely wary of any revolutionary political agenda, from either the right or the left, which promises a perfect world if all of its demands are met. He also takes into close consideration, as another reviewer notes, "the relationship between politics and metaphysics." Tinder notes well how faith in traditional orthodox Christianity has been on the downswing in Western societies during the past several centuries and how materialistic, man-centered methods of thinking have gained ascendancy in today's societies. Tinder's most sobering reflection is a hypothetical example of someone, someday establishing a perfect society on earth, totally eradicating injustice (in whatever form injustice may be correctly conceived). This perfect society would eventually die out anyway and fade into oblivion with each successive generation of human beings over time. Human history points toward an ultimate abyss as time passes making any achievement of a perfect society irrelevant in the overarching scheme of phenomena.

If you've ever wondered just how bad things can get when journalism runs out of control, this is a book you NEED to read. And if you're going into any part of the journalism field, it's even more important to read it, so that you can understand just how devastating a careless mistake can be for an innocent life.

Neda Soltani's face, and picture, are iconic for a LOT of people, but for all the wrong reasons. Thanks to a case of mistaken identity, hers was the face everyone carried around on posters and placards protesting the murder of Neda Agha-Soltan, and that mistake almost cost HER her life, too. This isn't just the story of that fateful summer day; this is the story of the life that Ms. Soltani had painstakingly built for herself and how it was destroyed by the appropriation of her face by activists, journalists, and eventually the Iranian regime itself, none of whom cared about the truth or the harm that they were doing to her in the process.

The book is a harrowing, absorbing read -- and I stayed up all night to finish it! -- greatly helped by Ms. Soltani's exquisite command of the English language. Until the disaster engulfed her, after all, she had been a professor of English literature. My heart was pounding as I read about her ordeal and its most harrowing moments. Yours will, too. And it should, because this was the price she paid for the way the whole world turned an innocent bystander into an icon, a martyr, and -- very nearly -- into another casualty of those horrendous days and nights. It's time for the world to give her back her face, and listen to her at last, too.

I heard an interview with the author on the talk radio witch got my interest in her book, so i got it.. I loved this book.. i read it in 1 day.. you just can stop reading it.. i hope Neda is ok now.. she`s a very smart and strong women and a very good story teller.. the book is also very easy to read.. English is my second language and i had no problem at all reading it :)

The Constitution explained

What a blessing to have an as-it-was-happening commentary on The Constitution of the United States. We have the Constitution’s author, James Madison, “defense” of the Constitution. And knowing that the Supreme Court has cited The Federalist Papers in its decisions gives them additional credence.

Each provision of the Constitution is explained and defended. Historical facts about previous governments are reasons for specific provisions. Brilliant men of the Enlightenment created a new type of republic. This new government, created in a time of peace, would depend upon and require rational thought instead of unpredictable monarchs/oligarchs reacting to public convulsions.

I am struck by papers #42 thru #47. They define the shared power between the Sovereign States and the proposed federal Union; this tension is nearly gone today. Paper #68 explains the original (and now abandoned) Electoral College. And, paper #10 warns us that “democracies are short in life and end violently”.

The republic born in 1791 (with the Bill of Rights) is unique in human history. A miracle! Today, the US is a shadow of itself. What does a republic deriving its power from the consent of WE THE PEOPLE look like? Read the Federalist Papers.

Only selected papers, not all of them.

It should be noted this does not include ALL of the Federalist Papers. It is a selected few, which I didn't notice when I bought it. I wanted them all sor study purposes, so I got another paperback with all 86 papers for 1/2 the price at a bookstore.

An excellent reference to the creation and ratification of The Constitution of the United States! Highly recommended!

This book contains the series of of essays expounding the merits of the new Constitution and to answer objections which had begun to appear in newspapers columns in New York and across the United States.The Federalist, 85 essays addressed "To The People of the State of New York" and signed with the pseudonym "Publius." The essays were written by Alexander Hamilton, John Jay & James Madison. Hamilton decided to issue the collected essays in 2 hardcover volumes, adding a preface to the 1st volume describing some of the methods, reasoning and intent involved in the transformation of the essays into a book. These essays drive the reasoning behind each part of the Constitution, evidence of the general opinion of the framers of the document, answering questions as to its genuine meaning. It is an analysis that must be taken in small doses, and as all was written for not only the critical reader, but also for the general public, the essays do, at times, become rhetorical, The authority by which these essays are viewed and accepted is helping me to understand a great deal about our political system and recognition of some of the pitfalls we, as the people, have been warned of but in our genuine ignorance unable to recognize. For instance, Essay No. 68: The Mode of Electing the President speaks to the serious nature of the election with the comittment to the people the right of selecting from the general mass by fellow-citizens, rather than any pre-established body, a small number of persons to form an intermediate, temporary body of electors whose sole purpose is the appointment of the President once receiving the majority of votes from the public. Excluded from eligibility to this trust are all who from situation might be suspected of too great devotion to the President in office, including any who hold office or hold a place of trust or profit under the United States. This Essay addresses Article II of the Constitution of the United States with thorough explanation of how the President & Vice-President are to be elected. (the XII Amendment changes only the balloting from each elector voting for 2 persons on 1 ballot; the person having the majority of votes shall be President; after choice of President, the person having the majority of votes shall be Vice-President. TO Electors shall name in their ballots the person voted for as President, and in distinct ballots the person voted for as Vice-President.) It is dry, repetitive reading but I have been learning.

Grade 5 Up Ever since his family moved to the tiny village of Los �rboles, Victor has been best friends with Rico. When Rico tells him that he has enough money to pay for a coyote to help him cross into El Norte, Victor is unable to decide if he, too, should go along and look for work or try to feed his family with the pitiful annual corn harvest. The decision is made for him the next day when he discovers that the corn prices have bottomed out and that there is no point in even planting this year. Readers suffer with the 15-year-old as he makes his painful decision to leave his mother and younger siblings and attempts the dangerous border crossing, jumping trains, fleeing thieves and border officials, and suffering from thirst and hunger. His desperation and fear are completely believable as he faces near-death situations and must decide whom to trust. The author deftly weaves information concerning the local geography and customs into the plot. The story is well paced, sustaining readers' attention throughout. Pair this novel with Ann Jaramillo's La L�nea (Roaring Brook, 2006) for another fictional view of young people crossing the border between the U.S. and Mexico. No longer able to grow corn profitably in his Mexican village, 15-year-old Victor, who has supported his family since his father's death, resolves to go to El Norte: "It's time for me to do what men from our village have to do." Lacking the money to secure a guide, he ventures to a border town to wait his chance in the "whirlpool" of recent deportees, newcomers, and grizzled mojados ("wetbacks"). Successive attempts find him trekking through mountains and desert, fleeing la migra, and unwittingly becoming entangled with ruthless drug traffickers. Hobbs' effort to show a broad view of the border-crossing experience, often by incorporating the hard-luck tales of Victor's acquaintances, results in a story arc that occasionally feels artificial. But the questions raised here are provocative and worthwhile ("Are [Americans] willing to pick the fruits and the vegetables to fill their grocery stores?"), and the propulsive adventure-and-survival elements will keep Hobbs' core audience hooked. Timely and insightful story

Read this book because it was assigned to my son for his summer reading program. What a great story! It should generate lively discussion in his freshman class about immigration. The story of Victor and his friend, Rico, trying to make their way across the boarder is compelling especially given their ages. Hobbs paints a descriptive picture of the Mexican border and their many trials and tribulations....fascinating stuff and definitely recommended.

What I liked was that Victor and Rico went to cross the border between the two countries Mexico and the United States of America to send home to there family money and how Rico went back in return to see his parents. I think that my family and friends should read this book because I think that they would like it like me .

Mr. Hobbs has used vivid imagery to recreate this suspenseful , and at times a graphic tale of a 15year old, Mexican boy's illegal trek across the U.S. border. He encounters mules, coyotes, and many helpful yet wise travel companions. He learns about life along his arduous journey as he strives to fulfill his goal to feed his family in Silao, Mexico.

This is a very readable and much needed book. I can easily see it being a standard part of a reading list for a graduate student starting off in neuroscience (computational or biological) or a core element of a graduate course. It would also be an excellent read for anyone seeking a snapshot of brain science. ... I feel Ballard's book will remain a strong contribution for a long time to come.This book is a 'must read' for anyone interested in understanding the human brain.
