My favorite in the Malory series!

How delightfully wonderful! By far, it's one of the most fun and romantic books I've read by Johanna Lindsey. You will fall in love with James and Georgina as they literally take to the high seas. What I loved the most was the obvious fun Lindsey had when she wrote the book. When you can feel the passion a writer has for their own stories then you know you are reading a great book.

If you like the Malory brothers then I dare say James will become your favorite. His character was developed and stayed true to his introduction in the first two books. This time we get to see his character in full and watch as the delightful Georgie comes in contact with him. Her storyline with her brothers was refreshing and I'm so glad Lindsey incorporated them. When they meet James for the first time, I had to read it over again simply to be sure I didn't miss anything. It was that good.

Absolutely recommendable!!! Wouldn't this be a fun movie? There's one part at the end with screams something you would see from A Princess Bride.

Gentle Rogue.....Wonderfully Awesome!!!!

Ahhh now we have James Malory's story and what a ride it was.
James meets his match in Georgina Anderson and let me just say she is perfect for the "black sheep" of the Malory clan.
I have read this book several times and never get bored. How can I? This is James and he is a trip...*wink*
The dialogue between James and Georgina is awesome as it is with the rest of the characters. Especially when Anderson and Malory clans are under the same roof. Hysterical. Loved it!!!

One of my all time favorite books EVER!

I picked up this book from a pile of books that were given to me by a deceased relative when I was about 11. Yeah I know a little too young to be reading this book in particular at that age, but I had always loved reading romance novels so she bequeathed me all of her collection (which was HUGE) when she passed. I will be forever grateful to her for doing so. I never had so much enjoyment from reading a book. So much so in fact that I have purchased this book multiple times since the first time I read the book. First copy of it sadly got destroyed when I loaned it out. It took me YEARS to remember the author's name (this was before google... so yeah that tells you how long it was ago). When I finally did, I quickly snatched another copy of the book. Unfortunately between that time and now, I've moved around a lot so I lost them and purchased additional copies. I couldn't count the number I've bought. That's how much I adore this book.

The characters are delightful, the story line is engaging enough to keep you entertained and literally laughing out loud in some parts, all in all the best book I've ever read - and I've read a lot. Since I've gotten older, I can fully appreciate the "juicy" bits to it as well. Very well done but not overly so to be distracting or all out porn. I thoroughly enjoyed the spectacle.

Since this book, I've purchased and read dozens of Ms. Lindsey's works. You really can never go wrong with this author. She draws you in and makes you fall in love with the characters, the scenes, the entire books. Superb writing skills.

Very Academical

Lalitha Gopalan writes very academically with many upmarket adjectives and obscure findings. Often she says, "my reading of [movie title]", "mise en scene" or "diegetic". I also know Bollywood books of journalist Anupama Chopra, released in the same BFI series as Gopalans Bombay book, about the movies DDLJ and Sholay: Chopra tells her story much more entertainingly and with a care for the readers' wellbeings. Whereas professor Lalitha Gopalan prefers the sound of the academic discourse; I don't.

Including appendix, foot notes, photos and index, the thin volumes amounts to 91 pages. The photos show mostly scenes straight from the movie; there are only few working photos from around the film set. We do see the faces of director Ratnam and lenser Menon; but music director A.R. Rahman is never depicted and rarely mentioned in the text (his music as such does get some pages).

Topics discussed for a few pages each:
- censorship, political pressures and riots around the release of Bombay
- the meaning of people-less scenery in the movie
- relation to the horror movie genre and other movie genres
- parallels to movies from Iran, Italy, Palestina
- parallels to earlier Ratnam movies

All in all, I liked the pages about political pressure before and after the movie's release, and little else. Professor Gopalan delivers too much interpretation and too few facts, she prefers theory over practicalities, she is too absorbed fitting the movie into certain genres and categories, and uses the wrong ductus.

Where it all started...

Geologists in Britain were the first to recognize the importance of fossils and the geological record. This books does a magnificent job laying out the 2 billion year geology of this small island. You can clearly see why 19th century scientists in Britain could no longer deny the billion year old history of the Earth. Beautifully illustrated and well written.

The ultimate plot-line for me

Apocalyptic scenario plus a really well drawn young adult lesbian romance? Awesome. This is the sort of book I've been dreaming of for a while, I have to admit I was kind of devastated when it ended!

I read this directly after Veronica's Roth's final installment of the Divergent trilogy, a book that will probably sell tens if not hundreds of thousands of copies, but I thought Apophis was the superior book on all counts.

It was a really well realized novel, thanks so much for putting this out there Eliza Lentzski.

Sorry it ended!

I've read and have enjoyed all of this author's books. The setting for this story was quite different so I was a little on the fence about purchasing a book with an apocalyptic type storyline but I like the author so much I took a chance. I loved it from beginning to end, in fact I'm hoping she has a sequel in mind. Characters were both sweet, strong, stubborn and likeable. Would definitely recommend!

Really a great story. I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure and romance. I love apocalyptic type stories. There's also some awesome, unexpected humor in here. Needs some editing but overall a very good read.
