Great Book!

Just finished reading this and loved it, what a great series so far! One of the things I liked about it, is that the Author does not get caught up rehashing memories for the majority of the book, the book was exactly as the description depicted with necessay short lived memories thrown in. So often 20% of a book is actually about what it is described as with the rest of the book nothing but the characters memories. It drives me crazy! This book also had a lot of action right from the start, and a good love story to go with it. My perfect kinda of book. Thanks Vanessa

Much Better

Glad I stuck with this series. Betrayal was so much better than the first book in the series. Even though I liked Jenna and Niko from Vengence, I must say that Kai (Jenna's brother, who has been cleared of killing their family) and Susana were a fabulous couple. The story in this was much more believable with all sorts of nasty bad guys and dangerous situations. Not least, the two of them escaping through the Amazon jungle and facing all of the dangerous things that go along with that. (snakes, spiders, quicksand)But on they go because every one is after Susana. Why? She has a micro-chip planted in her during an appendectomy that has data on it that is important to the continuing of the diabolical testing on humans that her father started before he died and is now being continued. So with the CIA and groups of mercenaries and Kai's friend Rafe, who has been used in the testing and drugged into thinking he has to kill his friend and get Susana and the chip, Kai and Susana must stay on the run. I have to say the attraction was very palpable between. Creating some sizzling jungle love scenes. I will now start Retribution, the next book in the series. The story of Rafe, who is not only Kai's friend, but Niko's brother, who having been used in this drug program against his will requires the love and care of his family and friends to bring him back.

Bravo Vanessa you now have another kick ass book

I always love it when I find a new author. She is great. Her books are well written, with good character development, which is always very much appreciated. The stories are suspenseful and this one is scary with very, very evil bad guys. Many times I don't want to put it down, but I have to give my racing heart a break. Bravo Vanessa you now have another HUGE fan. I do not like to include in my review a synopsis of the book because I feel that is too much of a spoiler alert. So read the entire SSU series, I guarantee you will love it. I am looking forward to reading every one of her books.

Best "Textbook" Ever!

No textbook has ever made me laugh out loud... except this one.

Short, to the point, and designed to *help* you succeed in life and business rather than bog you down in soon-to-be-outdated research and pontificating, this textbook reads a little like a self-help book that's been done over into a textbook.

I found all the chapters and sections highly useful and surprisingly enjoyable to read. The chapters are short and written in an engaging yet spartan style that delivers the information you need as succinctly, understandably, and enjoyably as possible. It also offers the "Peon Perspective," which is essentially: "What to do in organizations when you are a low level, easily fireable, totally squashable peon."

If you are looking for a textbook for a class, a textbook to use with highschool or college students, or a book on communication that will help you in a practical yet scholarly way, this is for you.

A bit pricey for its size, but worth it, I think.

About the Author

Mark McNairy is not an accredited designer, nor does he hold an advanced degree in any of the social sciences. He is simply an enthusiastic young man with an abiding love for all God’s creatures. Somehow he has managed to become a globally recognized menswear designer. He is the creative vision behind Mark McNairy New Amsterdam, the creative director for Woolrich Woolen Mills, and the creative director of the Bee Line and BBC Black, both collaborations with Pharrell Williams and Billionaire Boys Club. He has collaborated with brands such as Keds, Timberland, Bass, Adidas, Heineken, and Zippo. The former creative director of J. Press, Mark has been named a Woolmark Prize finalist, GQ’s best new menswear designer in America, and Complex’s man of the year in style. A member of the CFDA, he lives in Los Angeles.

Easy and fun read

Easy and fun read. I feel like this is something every dude should read. I love how he points out the pitfalls of fashion so many men fall into by either not caring what they look like or by caring too much. At least for me, this book helped articulate many of my own thoughts about men's fashion and helped feel more confidant about not conforming to many traditional beliefs about maturity and what's considered professional attire.

Celtic Ireland

I recently returned from having spent 3 weeks in Ireland. It is hard to avoid the "Celtic Spirit" no matter where you go. From Belfast, Northern Ireland to Dublin (Gaelic spoken in many areas) you are challenged by the spirit of the green countryside.

I became interested in Celtic design while visiting Trinity University in Dublin where I was exposed to the Book of Kells and manuscript drawings that were so vivid in an ancient book (800 AD). I recently visited the National Gallery of Art in D.C. and found this book which has wonderful Celtic designs. It even assists you in step by step drawing of some of the Celtic ornamentation (including exerpts from the Book of Kells). I could not have asked for a better direction than this book

I cannot sing the praises of this book enough. I have seen many books on Celtic ornament in the past, but this one surpasses all. It has excellent production, with wonderful colour plates. The book gives a history of Celtic ornament. It looks at each of the major design elements in detail. You can see from the wonderfully clear and large drawings how the designs are made up. Here you will find spirals, triskels, interlace, tree of life, labyrinths, animals and much more. If you have ever bought other books on how to draw Celtic designs and given up, I urge you to buy this book. You will succeed with this one. About the Author
Talat S. Halman is a leading translator of Turkish literature into English. Before establishing the Department of Turkish Literature at Bilkent University, Ankara, he taught at Columbia University, Princeton University, the University of Pennsylvania, and New York University. Halman is author and editor of more than sixty books, including Contemporary Turkish Literature, Modern Turkish Drama, and Suleyman the Magnificent Poet. He is editor of the Journal of Turkish Literature.

Jayne L. Warner is director of research at the Institute for Aegean Prehistory in Greenwich, Connecticut.
